On July 15th 2026, nearly half of the House Democrats, 103 out of 206, voted for a bill which would stop $3.3 billion in military aid going to Israel. Although this bill didn’t pass because other Republican congress members vioted not for it, this event shows great change in American politics.
Only 2 years ago, only 37 Democrats voted for a similar bill which means that almost 3 times as many democrats voted for it today. Still, there is lots of conflict, even between the democratic congressmembers as the number 2 Democrat Kather Clark voted for cutting aid, while leader Hakeem Jefferies voted against it.
After years of conflict among all Americas it is a hard decision to make whether or not to pass the bill. Many politicans bring up that because of the problem of civilian casualties in Gaza, it is the US’ responsibility to stop Israel, while on the other hand many Americans argue that Israel is a longtime US ally.
